Technical note

All the materials are in MPEG1 files.

The three sets on Theatre, Culture and Society are on CD ROM.  They can be played through any computer with a CD drive and a reasonable graphics card.  Obviously the better the graphics hard- and software the better the results.  The disks can also be ported through a computer to a television screen or projector.  There should, in principle, be no problem of compatibility of PAL versus NTSC.[1]

The two sets on dance and gamelan are on Video CDs.  They may be played on any computer with a CD drive, a reasonable graphics card and appropriate software, much of which is freely downloadable (e.g. Windows Media Player).  The video disks may also be played on any modern DVD player, as these are now normally VCD compatible.  If in doubt, check with the vendor of the DVD player.  VCDs are not regionally coded.

[1]  In the event of trouble porting the files to a television monitor, this can be solved by setting the monitor to 640 x 480 pixels for NTSC or to 800 x 600 for PAL.  The point at which you might have difficulties is if you port the picture to an American NTSC only TV screen.  In this case, you reset the monitor setting to 640 x 480 and this should enable the TV to work fine.
